China is facing urgent and growing problems. Pursuing economic growth means coping with a strong urbanization trend and increasing traffic problems. As can be seen in western countries, urbanization, urban form and car use are strongly interrelated issues. Are Chinese cities learning from past western experiences or are they making similar mistakes?
